Notes: |
This is the first known recording of “Red Wing”. Recorded by Frank C. Stanley and Henry Burr the year it was written, 1907. It was written by F.A Mills with lyrics by Thurland Chattaway and was a a popular hit throughout the early 20th century. My first introduction to it was through Woody Guthrie’s re-telling in the song “Union Maid”.
